I think I have been asking Laura for as long as we’ve been married if we could buy a boat. The answer was always “we don’t need a boat…” She was right. When we lived in San Jose there weren’t many places to take a boat. Anderson Lake was close, but not that big, and anything big enough to take into the ocean in Santa Cruz or San Francisco was a bit out of our league.
But… since we now live in beautiful Placer County, right near Sacramento we have more rivers, and lakes, including Lake Tahoe just a stones throw away. We went camping at Collins Lake, which is not to far from home and rented a little eight foot fishing boat. We all went out on it and fished. Christopher absolutely loved it.

Laura said “you know, maybe it would be good to have our own boat!” I knew the iron was hot and I had to strike. The hunt began. I looked and searched and we almost bought an older Four Winns, but Laura’s common sense kicked in and we checked one more place and that’s where we found our boat. It’s a 1995 Regal 202SC Valanti. A 20 foot cuddy cabin with all the amenities and it is in near perfect condition. We bought it (without a sea trial) and have no regrets so far.
